Private Commission, Comic Book Convention Ad, MAJOR VICTORY. Pencil, Ink, Colored Inks.
A long time ago, in the mid-to-late 1980s, I was commissioned to create an ad promoting the small comic book convention, organized by a local comics dealer in my Southern California neighborhood. Since he left it entirely up to me what character to draw, I chose my own Major Victory, co-created with writer Mike W. Barr for DC Comics' Batman and the Outsiders title. Taking a page out of Lynda Carter's television series adaptation of Wonder Woman, I decided to add a flowing cape and a headband to Major Victory, providing for a more substantial and regal silhouette.
Ahh.... Good times.... Good times...

I LOVE THIS. Just...what a blast from the past, I don't know if I ever saw this particular image, but it's just so evocative of a by-gone handmade fan-driven era.
