Unused Comic Book Art, YOUNGBLOOD. Pencil, Ink, Pen, Grey wash.
Long ago, before Image Comics and millionaire McFarlanes, I was commissioned by the creators of Youngblood to render a two-page spread illustration of the title characters. I have no clue why this illustration was never printed. I guess I never really cared one way or the other. Lots of time has passed, bad blood has spilled, empires have toppled, and the pieces sold off. But I remain on good terms with both Rob Liefeld and Hank Kanalz. Rob always has a kind word for me, and Hank is one of my closest friends. I'm sure he'd get a kick out of me dusting this piece off, and posting it here, at last, for all who care to see. This marked my very first attempt at inking my own work. Time really does fly! This was over 20 years ago. I hope you don't hate it! |
