WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE, Prime Minister Tseng, General Singh Manh Li. Pencil, Digital Color.
In the YJ episode, "Targets," I designed these minor characters in the established style of Lead Designer Phil Bourassa. Tseng and Li represent the feuding nations of South and North Rhelasia, respectively. Sometimes it pays to put a little extra care into even a minor design. You never know whether it may be useful again, or if that character may need to reappear later on.
These are my own color choices.

I really like how though stylized the designs for the series have such a neat dose of realism nonetheless. Thanks for adding such personality to them, even minor characters always look unique

Depends. If you mean concepts, usually it's one, but never more than two. If you mean actual drawings, once I have a proper concept approved, I tend to do two rough passes before my final clean-up. Sometimes it's easier than other times, of course.
The typical frustration exists when writers, editors, producers, or art directors expect to have their minds read, when they should make their picky desires known before so much work is done. But this is one of the many evils artists must suffer in the professional ranks, along with our own mistakes.

Do you think that was deliberate?
