WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE, Dudley H. Dudley. Pencil, Digital Color.

In the YJ episode, "Alpha Male," Dudley H. Dudley is another member of The Marvel Family who is given a cameo appearance. Although Dudley is no true relation to the orphaned Billy Batson, he has nevertheless come to be accepted as a loving uncle.

In a brief scene at the end of the episode, Uncle Dudley sits at home in a shabby apartment, reading on the living room couch. I provided reading glasses as an option (seen here), but it was decided to forego the specs.

Hmm... I just noticed, he looks a little like actor Charles Durning!

These are my own color selections, as always, and the art style adheres to that established by Lead Character Designer Phil Bourassa.

*It's fun to compare this design to the one I did for JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS. In that Direct-To-Video feature we get to see the evil counterpart of Uncle Marvel, Uncle Super, a Made-Man under the command of Superwoman. Uncle Super can be found here: [link]

Love your work on YJ. I just finished watching episode 16, which was epic. Greg said that there were 135 DC characters that appeared in the first 16 episodes, and no one I've talked to has been able to find over 126. Is there an official list anywhere?

I wonder if he's actually Billy's uncle in Young Justice? In the comic book mini-series Shazam! The New Beginning, Dudley was retconned as Billy's actual blood uncle, and his name was Dudley Batson. But that was re-retconned away.

Interesting.

But I don't believe so in this case. The character is listed as "Dudley H. Dudley."
