YOUNG JUSTICE: CIRCUS FIREBREATHERby *Jerome-K-Moore

WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE, Haly Circus Firebreather. Pencil, Digital Color.

In the first season episode entitled, "Performance," the Young Justice team goes undercover as performers in the Haly International Traveling Circus. Among the other members of the circus is the Firebreather, who becomes one of the suspects connected to a string of thefts mysteriously coinciding with the troupe's traveling itinerary across Europe.

The direction for this, and other designs for the episode was to use Cirque Du Soleil as an influence. I took this to mean "beautiful," "spectacular," "exaggerated," as well as a bit "creepy." A devil motif was the obvious choice for the firebreather.
