Unused WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE, Beetlejuice Kid. Pencil, Digital color.

I was having a little fun, designing costumed kids to fill out the crowd at the Happy Harbor High School Halloween Dance Party (episode 18, "Secrets"). We had run out of ideas for superhero knockoff costumes, and so I decided to playfully plumb the depths of the Warner Bros film properties, looking for recognizable characters that might be hilarious to represent. Unfortunately, the legal complexities of rights and royalties reared its hideous head, and many of my clownish concepts were rejected. And so, since Beetlejuice Kid, here, was among the ignominiously unapproved, I present him now as part of my growing "Cutting Room Floor" file. A trick that failed to be a treat. Heh.

I saw this movie a while ago. My favorite quote was something like "Showtime!" after the girl pronounced his name three times.
