DC Comics, Black Canary, and The Green Arrow. Pencil. Inks by Dell Barras.
Wayyyyy back in the day, I did several installments of the Green Arrow back-up strip in Batman's Detective Comics. During my run (after the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline), Black Canary underwent a redesign by artist Stephen DeStefano. It wasn't long before this revamp design fell out of favor with the readership, and Canary subsequently returned to her standard sexpot outfit.
These figures were simple hero poses drawn as border bookends on the first page of a story focusing on Black Canary. These hero poses were inspired by the ones Ross Andru did of Superman and Spider-Man back in the days of the classic DC/Marvel team-up books. Ahhh... Good times.... good times...
