Illustration, WB Product Art, Cowardly Lion, WIZARD OF OZ. Pencil. What makes the Hottentots so hot? Who put the Ape in Ape-ricot? What have THEY got that I ain't got? Courage! lol Unforgettable classic performance by actor Bert Lahr. I tried to capture as much of his spirit as I could, but with the limited, grainy reference available, I mostly had to work from my memory of that beloved film. I always got the tough assignments at WB. Thanks, Franky. I joined up to draw Yogi Bear! lol

Do you mind if I also take some of the other stuff you drew of the "Oz Gang" [lol, that's what I call them to save typing space] and make it into a poster of some sorts?

I want to turn them into a Broadway poster thing/style/design.

Oh my goodness- this is brilliant! Grainy reference or not, you perfectly captured his character! Great choice of quote, by the way :). I love the smashed up pot on his head :D.

Courage, ain't it the truth, ain't it the truth? He was brilliant, combining Vaudville with an already well loved character. You certainly caught some of his spirit no doubts about it.

I appreciate the praise, sir, but no, I'm not going for "photo realism," just an interpretation. There are incredibly impressive examples elsewhere on this site of photo realism, which is more concerned with achieving an illusion, than with telling a story or conveying an idea.
