Unpublished Comic Art, Promotional, Jack Slater, LAST ACTION HERO. Pencil, Ink, Brush, Pen, Opaque gouache. This was a fun piece. I designed it to promote the comic book like a film, with this image being a teaser poster. Borrowing a little from the JAWS Marketing art, I illustrated Danny Madigan's hand thrusting upward, reaching for the magic ticket, the key to his dreams. The omission of actor Austin O'brien's likeness allows any kid to better identify himself vicariously with the boy's character. And the upthrust hand as an element obviously forces the viewer's eye toward Schwarzenegger's Jack Slater. The film sprockets provide an easy 2-D background element, while reinforcing the theme.

Yes, and this was without any scanners or computers. I drew all the detail on that ticket by my own digital fingers! LOL!!
