Description

WB Conceptual Art, Elmer Fudd Race Car, LOONEY TUNES. Pencil, prismacolor marker and pencils. For good or ill, LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION began as a twinkle in the eye of the chief executive of Marketing. In order to spark the flagging sales of Looney Tunes merchandise worldwide, a new movie was proposed that could re-energize the brand for a new market. Good idea. Bad execution. Desperation is rarely an ideal incentive. Such is often the case when the "tail wags the dog," instead of allowing honest creativity to set standards of uncompromising quality, thereby reaping further-reaching dividends. Successful sales in merchandising should be the by-product and reward for innovative ideas, and creative vision. Not the other way around.

Anyway... Looney Tunes: Back in Action was originally pitched as a knock-off of Blake Edwards' THE GREAT RACE, teaming various popular celebrities with animated Looney Tunes characters. This was my whimsical idea for Elmer Fudd's racecar, with the possible celebrities being either Jon Lovitz, or Kelsey Grammar.

I still think this could make a cool toy.
