Unpublished Comic Book Page Art, DC Comics, AQUAMAN. Pencil.

This is the bottom half of one of the pages I did for the cancelled Aquaman miniseries sequel years ago. With this page, all reference from previous artist Craig Hamilton was depleted, and I was on my own to interpret a style influenced by his. This is the direction I was going in... a bit heavier than Hamilton's, but still appropriately immersed in art nouveau.

Here, Aqualad reflects on his lost love, Tula, while sitting in his chambers in the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. Makaira, wife of King Vulko, arrives to console him.

My editor had told me that artist Kevin Nowlan was slated to ink my pencils on this project. It would've been quite interesting to have seen the result of our collaboration.

I had to google Garth Brooks, because I'm obviously an illiterate fool, but I still have no clue what he has to do with water..

See? When ya have to explain a bad joke, it just makes it worse! lol
So, now you know Garth Brooks is an American country/music star. "Brooks," is a coincidental reference to water, as in "small stream?" Tiny "river?" A BROOK!! Get it??

Being European is no excuse. LOL!
